Bridge development in Vrnjacka Banja dates to the period of coming the engineer Đorđa Dunjić into our town and his position at the enterprise for designing buildings “AL atelier” in 1991. The game was accepted and popularized by Basic brothers, Nenad and Predrag, Popadic Slobodan, Kalicanin Milun and Kalicanin – Basic Olivera.

ĐORĐE DUNJIĆ 26.01.1965 - 29.04.1999 Was a recognized bridge player in the former Yugoslavia, a representative, President of the Assocation of Central Serbia and loving friend of many players.

Born in Skopje. Primary and Secondary School completed in Raska ( mathematics major – programming ) At the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade graduated in 1991. Since graduation worked at the » AL atelier« in Novo Selo, Vrnjačka Banja. Founder of the club Vrnjačka Banja and creator of the idea of Bridge Festival. Tragically died around Glogovac at Kosovo, during the Nato bombing of Serbia.

In his honour, on May 1st 2001, in memory of our friend, the Tournament was organized with 96 bridge players. Since 2002 the Tournament started to last for several days( 5 days), with addition of Open pair of Serbia turning into the Bridge Festival.

Due to the decision of Ministry for sport and young No.661-02-1267/2002 since 26.12.2002 the Sport bridge club »Đorđe Dunjić« was established.
